Meet our Leaders
Blake Sims, MSHA, MBA | Chief Executive Officer
Blake is an experienced operations leader with a proven track record of success. He has worked in large complex healthcare organizations in Texas and Nevada. During that time, he developed expertise in operational management, productivity and process improvement projects, infection prevention, capital construction project management, and strategic planning.
Blake earned a master’s in health administration and a master’s in business administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. While at UAB, he also completed additional certificates in health care finance and gerontology. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Colorado Association of Healthcare Executives and Upsilon Phi Delta National Academic Honor Society. An active community member, Sims has served on a number of boards and is an alumnus of Leadership Amarillo & Canyon (Texas).
Dr. Gary Pearson | Medical Director
With more than 25 years of experience, Dr. Pearson is dedicated to delivering comprehensive medical care to our hospitalized patients.
Dr. Pearson is board certified in family medicine. He completed a residency and internship in family medicine at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colo. He earned his medical degree from The Ohio State College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio, and earned a bachelor’s degree in zoology from the University of California, Davis in Davis, Calif. Dr. Pearson is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Pearson is fluent in Spanish and is actively involved in medical missions to Haiti, Dominican Republic, and Nicaragua.
When not working, he can be found enjoying time with his wife and five children. He also enjoys road biking, fly fishing, playing tennis, and reading.
Amanda (Mandee) Hartshorn | Director of Patient Outcomes
Mandee has over 13 years of experiencing in nursing, including acute care, cardiac catheterization lab, case management and leadership across the age spectrum. She is goal-focused and offers a reliable point-of-contact for patients, their families, and the care team.
Mandee earned her Master’s degree in Nursing Leadership from Grand Canyon University, graduating with honors.
She enjoys spending time with her husband and five kids. She enjoys fishing and spending time in the mountains. Mandee is passionate about her kids and their sports. She is actively involved in the International Nurses Association and has been recognized as a Leader in Case Management over the previous two years.
Amy Hansen, PT, DPT | Director of Therapy Operations
Amy worked for five years as an inpatient lead therapist at Northern Colorado Rehabilitation Hospital, assisting the hospital in achieving the prestigious designation as the gold standard for stroke rehabilitation in 2013. She then chose to expand her clinical experience providing therapy to patients in their home. Amy has returned home here at NCRH in her leadership position.
Amy has a certification that specializes in rehabilitation for patients with stroke and brain injuries (Neuro-IFRAH) and leads a team of specialized therapists providing the highest quality of care to our patients.
Amy’s leadership style exudes passion for the patients and her staff. Amy is a 6-year survivor of ovarian cancer, proving to be one of self-determination and strength.
Aside from her career, Amy’s enjoys traveling, brewery hopping, and attending sporting events with her husband, Andy, and children, Gavin and Danika.
Christina Salas | Director of Marketing and Business Development
Christina possesses more than 15 years of healthcare experience. She earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colo. and a master’s degree in social work from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo. Christina is passionate about providing quality care to patients of Northern Colorado.
She is a member of the Colorado Hospital Association, National Stroke Association, and Northern Colorado Business Report. She also is involved with Professionals for Seniors, Northern Colorado Health Care Summit, and Sharing the Care Campaign.
Christina enjoys traveling with her family and enjoying the outdoors bike riding and being in her flowers gardens.
Sean McCauley | Director of Facilities Management
Sean has been with Northern Colorado Rehabilitation Hospital and Northern Colorado Long Term Acute Hospital for 11 years as the Central Supply Supervisor before transitioning into the Director of Facilities Management position. He had 22 years with the fire service in Northern Colorado and retired from the Milliken Fire Protection District, having served as Fire Captain and Fire Chief.
Sean thrives in bringing value to the organization through his inclusive leadership style focusing on building up and valuing employees.
Sean has earned several National Incident Management certifications including; completing courses in Healthcare Emergency Management at the Department of Homeland Security Center for Domestic Preparedness. Sean was also a Certified Emergency Medical Technician IV / Firefighter during his 22 years in the fire service and a Certified Hazardous Materials Technician and Hazardous Materials Incident Safety Officer.
Sean is an avid homebrewer and craft beer enthusiast. Sean enjoys being in the outdoors, especially the mountains and enjoying quality time with his family and 4 daughters.
Becky Kosach | Director of Human Resources
Becky joined our team with 11 years of experience in health care, and 11 years of experience in Human Resources. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the University of Wyoming. She is a certified professional in Human Resources.
When not working, Becky enjoys a variety of activities, ranging from art, to dance, to bouldering.
Hillary A. Payne, RN | Director of Compliance
Hillary brings 25 years of experience as a registered nurse to her role as Director of Compliance. Her diverse background includes Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Surgical and Neurological Intensive Care, Post Anesthesia Care, Nursing Leadership and Quality Improvement, and Case Management.
Hillary is enthusiastic and compassionate. She has a passion for quality patient care which has drawn her to her role in Compliance and Quality at Northern Colorado Long Term Acute Hospital. Hillary has held certifications in Critical Care Nursing as well as Post Anesthesia Care. She has had an abstract published in AACN (American Association for Critical Care Nursing) for a quality project reflecting TJC (The Joint Commission) national safety goals.
When Hillary is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, going to movies, and is a competitive figure skater.
